almost $300 for a 1 day rental is an absolute joke. I also went with the cheapest, subcompact vehicle and ended up with a "free" upgrade, so I wasn't even trying to rent some luxury car. Avis will charge you again after you pay almost $200 online to reserve the car. They can screw me over once, but this is the last time i'll give Avis, or any company they own, anymore of my money.

Was not made aware of additional charges when picking up or dropping car off. Definitely bad business to charge new customers without making them aware of mis leading charges. Called corporate customer service and got nowhere. Just kept giving me the run around! This by far is the worst rental company and should not be allowed to be in business!! Trust me, take your business elsewhere unless you like having/dealing with unauthorized charges.
They canceled my reservation 2 days before my vacation trip. They say that reservations do not reserve. If they have given the car to someone else you are out of luck. This is the most ridiculous company I have ever dealt with. I called customer service and reservations and was told That I can rent another car at predatory rates since we are 2 days before my reservation. I have been hung up on twice, once by a supervisor. Worst experience ever with a rental company! I had my trip planned , I always rent my vehicles through ********** so going with another company made me nervous. 1. Customer service is non-existent. I made a profile and it wouldn't let me update my credit card number and asked me to call the customer service. No number was provided. I searched on Google and called them. I had to hop and call 2 different numbers after talking to these people. I will never be using Avis again as we have had the worst experience with this company. And after reading their Facebook page I see I am one of many that they have tried to scam. I made reservations online and was supposed to be charged $450. When we picked up the car I was told it would cost $750 because an Avis employee changed my corporate code when I called to have the dates of my reservation adjusted. Rented a car from the Des Moines Airport location for government travel purposes. I returned the rental car with a full tank of gas and I was charged $139.86 to my government charge card for fuel service. I contacted the location to dispute the charge and the employee said they would look into it and get back to me. I still have not received a call from them and they won't answer. I am EXTREMELY unhappy with Avis! We rented a car at MCO 5/18-5/25 and after returning home I viewed the E-Receipt only to find out they charged us for fuel. We FILLED the tank before returning and they said it was near empty. We actually took a photo AT the airport drop off of the mileage and showing the gas gauge. I sent the photo to customer service and they said its not enough proof!! It has the SAME MILAGE as on the receipt!! How is that not enough proof?! They ripped us off by $233 and that's NOT OKAY!

I reserved and prepaid a full-size car rental from the Denver Airport. The agent offered me discounted upgrade to an SUV. I declined and said I don't need an SUV and don't enjoy driving them. When I went to the lot, I saw they had assigned me a large Kia SUV. I'd already waited in line for over an hour, so I just took it and drove away.
