Had the car I needed at a good price. Very old-fashioned systems (dot matrix printer!) and the parking area is tight.
Go to the airport instead don’t waste time here. Close location to downtown is not worth the struggles. As others mention only few staff working and only 1 working the counter. Took at least 15 minutes per person in line so easily expect to wait 1 hour. Limited cars and often not given with full tank of gas which in downtown DC is not as easy to fill. Reservations are not honored for the class of vehicle you select and you are told to wait an unknown amount of time or go to DCA. Waiting room only has 1 chair

I just rented a car with Tommy and he was wonderful. I originally rented with Expedia and they made a mess of my reservation. Tommy was able to fix the mess and get us in a rental car for our trip home. He went above and beyond. Thank you Tommy!
Don't rent from Avis! If you're like us, Avis locations might send your personal and financial information to a complete stranger and then blacklist you when that stranger calls to complain about a rental receipt that isn't theirs! This happened to us at a Virginia location, and Avis Corporate was complicit by repeatedly refusing to remove my wife from the Do Not Rent list.
