Time Consuming I was really excited when Aveda originally opened its doors with $12 hair cuts. However, I have yet to exit the place with a hair cut I've been head over heels for. If you go, you need to know that your hair is being cut by students. Which doesn't mean that it'll be a bad cut, it just means that you may be sitting there for a long time. Spa Style for Little Money Aveda Institutes are the training centers for students pursuing careers in hair, nails, facials, and massage. I visited Aveda Institute South Florida on a whim to get a hair cut and was pleasantly surprised. The building is a new LEED certified space and is minimalist and clean (and solar powered!). After checking in at the receptionist I was randomly paired with a student who had been in the program for about seven months.
