YUCK: Very 'alternative' and very grunge now. Most of their classes have been very GRUNGE for the past few years. Honestly it's difficult to trust someone's instincts / skills for my hairstyle / color when their own personal styles are from another land: butchered/choppy hairstyles, crayola colors on their hair, and disturbing facial piercings. I'm not grunge, so this isn't for me any longer. (have been a customer for decades ...)

This place really needs to get its act together if it wants to continue to get repeat customers for their students to practice on. This is the second time I've come here for a pedicure appointment and waited over 40 minutes. No apology and no honest responses when I ask what the delay looks like. It's not that hard to ask a student if she's 5 minutes from finishing a pedicure or 40 minutes from finishing one. And if you can't honor appointments why have guests make them? On a work day people have to take time out of their da... read more

This is the worst Aveda Institute I have ever been to. Its one thing for the students to mess up. Hey they are there to learn. But when the client is paying and the I instructor refuses to acknowledge the mistake or help the student correct it.... Then that's a,no win situation. In my opinion go some where else. What I witness was horrible and the person over looking the situation was rude and lets just leave it at that. This place is located in Austin, Texas in at 3300 N IH 35. I don't blame the students because they are th... read more

I love Aveda Institute, but I've been there enough where I know what to expect. Before I had moved to Nashville, I had been going to Aveda salons for 5 years now, and I'm proud to say this time, my cheap student cuts was even better than the ones I paid almost four times the price for! My stylist was Kristen. I was positively surprised. Everything was extremely well done and far exceeded my expectations. Her personality - awesome! She makes you feel really comfortable and welcome. Such attention to detail and listening to my... read more

My tip- go to Regency. When I came here, they messed up and had to dye my hair black when I asked for red. They still asked for me to oay for it, and they jerked me around until they finally decided there was nothing they could do about it.

If you don't mind spending double the time it usually takes to get your haircut, these people do a great job at rock bottom prices. I would NOT try to go here if I was a bride, a movie star or do to be back at work or the airport in 45 minutes..... I've gone here on and off for 10 years and maybe had 1 bad experience.

I have been to the Aveda Institute for hair cuts and single process hair coloring with senior stylists. I have always been very happy. I used to pay about $200 from my stylist for the same services but since I lost my job, I have needed to cut corners a bit. I was initially very nervous to come. However, I have been extremely pleased. It sometimes is hard to get an appointment exactly when you want to prepare in advance and I would not recommend going on a weekend if you have a choice. They do have weekday appointments. All ... read more

Good, but ask for senior student – The first time I went I had a student that was not "seasoned" yet. She didn't even know how to use a diffuser for curly hair. Someone had to show her. She also didn't do a good job on my new growth hair color & it was $80 & took 5 hours. I even called Kisma where I got my hair color formula & she still didn't do it correctly. I had an 1-1/2 band that was very different from the rest of my hair color. Anyhow, I just went back again.....almost 3 months later & asked for a senior student that ... read more
