We liked living here, but everything that people say about extortion-level rent increases are worse than you can imagine. They asked for a 22% increase from last year! There is no market data that supports this and it is way beyond what's comparable in the market right now - they just seem to arbitrarily come up with a number and see if people are willing to pay it - makes no sense given that the building is more than 10 years old, we have no private outdoor space, we do not face Manhattan and this is not even the largest 2 ... read more
The building has a continous and strong odor of trash coming from trash rooms. My unit shares a wall with the chute and the smell comes into my apartment and is nauseating. After 6 months management acknowledges the issue but says they are unable to fix it. You can often smell in hallways and in the parking garage/package pick-up area. Also, the elevators are ALWAYS broken. There are 4 elevators and most days 1 is not working and 1 is being used for moving. Leaving 2 elevators in service (3 on a good day). RecommendedI have been living in Avalon Riverview in Long Island City for over 3 years. As a a business owner with 2 small children they have made my life as easy as it could be. The staff is extremely responsive to any issues that come up. James has been a wonderful addition to the team. I was having problems with my washer, and contacted maintenance. Yikes. Do not provide these people with your personal information. I went apartment hunting and filled out a credit application but didn't end up finding an apartment that fit my needs in Avalon Riverview. Almost immediately, they used my personal information and started billing me for all sorts of things like community fees even though I wasn't a tenant and didn't have any relationship with them.
