Going on 8th year at the Avalon Melville and to be completely honest the place his gone downhill drastically. The grounds were green and lush and are so neglected, the sprinkler system hasn’t t worked in years except for right in front so when people drive by or enter they think it’s beautiful. The Avalon in Melville has great potential. The lack of communication is an issue. You cannot call to speak with anyone if you have an issue. You can only email. They do not proactively maintain things or improve them. The grounds are neglected, the buildings need power washing, the inside of the units need updating. Many long time residents have said it used to be maintained much better. The landscapers do the minimal amount, the grounds have an irrigation issue and things are either flooded or dried out. So where do I begin. Moved to the Avalon for convince to be in my son’s school district. Wish there were more accurate reviews of this poorly run “community”. So let’s start with the poor upkeep of the buildings. They do not power wash the buildings, they don’t clean the gutters(I have plants growing in mine) the pool area furniture is torn, there is dog feces all over. Our overall experience has been good. The development is well maintained and we love our apartment. The one negative comment I have is the lack of communication we have with the office. There isn’t any phone number to call when there is an issue to speak to someone about. There is an app and they tell you to email them. I find it frustrating and annoying with this since you can’t do any follow-up nor if you have a question it’s difficult to speak to a person directly.
