There are many grey areas inside California's state tax laws regarding vehicle sales, and how they are handled by dealerships, which is why it makes auto republic shady, by telling me I have to pay Cali state taxes (instead of me paying only the sales tax in the state I live in, like every other state) because I chose to go with my own loan company instead of going with their loan company, or paying cash.
