Had a very disappointing experience. Took my Mercedes in for an oil change, a chirping sound, and a loose plate. Oil was changed and they never made the adjustment to the dashboard indicting the tune up was done. That is change the oil 101, a total no brainer. License plate was never secured and they forgot to look at the idler that also needed to be replaced. I was charge $130 for the oil change and nothing else was addressed including noting that the level A tune up was done. I will not return.
Like other reviewers I find the people at AE to be honest and competent. Recently I needed a water pump replaced on my Mercedes and was shocked by the high price quoted for the part. I asked if I could find the part myself and have them put it in. They were happy to do the job and I saved $300. I would never expect a dealer to be so accommodating!
I've had three experiences with Auto Engineering of Lexington and each has, from start to finish, been exceptional. I've had major and minor work done. In leaving my car with them the first time, I remember thinking these guys are different...I felt these guys would find the problem and fix it. They did and the cost was as estimated. Yes, it's a simple story, but I can't attest to many repairs that have been simple. Quick oil change, excellent job, cheap rate.
AE does great work, especially on foreign cars. They are reasonably priced (especially relative to the dealerships) and they do not try to do work on your car that it doesn’t need. About two years ago I was told by a random gas station garage mechanic after a state inspection that the fan belt was cracked. At the recommendation of a friend, I drove the car over to AE. They looked at it and said that they would love to replace the fan belt but it looked relatively new and they couldn’t find any cracks. When I asked what I owe... read more
