Gave me my life back! – Thank you Dr. Loftus and Austin Neurological Institute team for taking such good care of me and giving me my life back. My L4 & L5 discs were smoothed out/off (they looked like the jagged edge of a key) in November. Dr. Loftus found some arthritis spurs and cleaned them out as well. Minimal invasive surgery was right, apparently back in the day the cut would be 4-6” long with lots of trauma to the surrounding tissue, and nerves. Not for me, the incision was only 2” at best with no nerve and very littl... read more

How are looks relevent? – It seems very bizarre to me that an individual with a serious condition that would require Neurosurgical intervention would go on and on about the surgeon's appearance. Please, Austin do not, absolutely do not choose your brain and spine surgeon based on how he/she looks. Choose wisely, do your homework, and please know that Citysearch is not the best place to look for a Neurosurgeon. Restaurants, yes, doctors, not so much.

Great Doctor, Good Looking Too – Dr. Loftus helped me after I had been mistreated with multiple epidurals and never correctly diagnosised. I had three herniated discs and my porgnosis was dim. Even thought three level spinal fusions are shunned Dr. Loftus explained the need for the structural support for my lumbar spine to be able to function. I had the surgery and I was up and about doing great. Unfortunetly for me, I had an auto accident and injured my sacral iliac joint. This is the injury that made me disabled. Dr. Loftu... read more

Dr. Loftus, his physician's assistant, clinical and clerical staff are the best! – Dr. Loftus, his associates and staff are the best in Texas! My husband had suffered with back pain and numbness and tingling in his leg for 10 years. He went from doctor to doctor, went through physical therapy and modalities for many years. In May, 2007, we became acquainted with Dr. Loftus. After a through examination and review of past records and tests, surgery was offered to My husband. Though very nervous, he underwent spinal fusion, whi... read more

best doc ever! – I love doctor T. (as I call him), In 2003 he replaced C4/5 5/6. I healed quickly and maintained full rotation of my neck. He was very attentive, in the hospital and out. He treated my pain adequedly, and was just as personable as he was professional. I surely did not expect to see him again. But,....life threw another monkey wrench at me and 2 years later I was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease and blew out disc L4/5 and L5/S1, I was the first person in Austin to receive the less invasive (introscopic... read more
