I had previously left a review in regards to Aaron Maxfield last year and has since been removed. It’s significant enough to ensure my reviews remain seen because Aaron broke anything that was left of my family. In my experience, his approach caused significant harm rather than healing and contributed to serious and lasting damage within my family dynamic. I also want to support other reviews stating that he engages in victim blaming and creates emotionally unsafe environments for vulnerable clients. And the image that I’ll ... read more

Aaron Maxfield does more harm than good. He supported victim blaming and created a very unsafe place. He also allowed family scapegoating during the sessions and didn’t stop it. Don’t waste your time or money. You will need to go to even more counseling (with a better counselor) after seeing him.

Mike Rothchild is inexperienced, expensive, and he was ineffective for both my children, one of whom ended up in a serious position in his care for which I had to seek other care, which has been far more competent and reasonably priced. Aaron Maxfield is a joke of a family counselor. He will diagnose an individual with narcissism but when another member is displaying the same if not worse traits he will turn a blind eye and take sides. He’s secretive with other members of the family and will discuss things behind their back which only makes things worse. Then he plays off with the typical “I only was doing what I thought was best”. Youre garbage Aaron and you only made things worse.

When I first thought about counseling, I felt so overwhelmed due to the variety in therapists that I could see. I eventually chose Catherine Mok and I cannot thank her enough for guiding me through a tumultuous time with my family. She has great cultural and familial insights that helped me better understand both myself and my family. I cannot recommend her enough and am a little sad I would not be able to continue seeing her. But she has been nothing but kind and compassionate, validating my conflicting views and feelings.
