Great Food, Great lunch bargain – Definitely not for the "...OOHH dey gots Crab Legs on the buffet!!" crowd, this eatery has a great lunch menu. - and it's enexpensive as well. Although dinner prices can get a little high. I've been there tons of times for lunch and dinner and have never had service problems. This is not a "rush in, rush out" kind of place, although they will get your food out in a timely manner. It's just good food at a decent price. Nashville's Best Chinese – The best in Nashville, probably the most authentic Chinese food in the city.
Not Bad...for Nashville – One of the best things I can say about August Moon is that it is NOT a buffet. Everything is cooked fresh (allegedly) and they will take requests for items that are not on the menu. One of my favorites is MaPo tofu, and they do it very well here. I only wish the side dishes of fried rice were freshly-fried vs. apparently served from either a rice cooker or steam table. The soups are excellent - Hot and Sour is very good, and the service is usually good, but can be slow between 1:00PM and 3:00PM M-F.
Good--if you're in for a screaming match – The food at August Moon is really good, but the service has been horrible the past three times I visited. On a Saturday last year, our waitress got into a screaming match with the owner--while she was waiting on our table!! The restaurant was pretty empty, so they probabaly figured that it wouldn't matter. I subsequently visited hoping the incident was isolated; however, this time the service was just as bad. Great for Lunch – My husband and I love eating here for lunch. It is great food, service, and not crowded. Easy to get to from downtown if you come in by Lipscomb. Their food is always good and the waitresses are very nice. Don't know how it is for dinner, as we live about 40 miles outsided of Nashville, but for lunch...super!
Another Iffy choice – I am shocked to see this restaurant on the top 10. I have eaten at this restaurant and it is off my list of choices. Last time we went the Wonton Soup had a taste to it that I couldn't figure out... It was almost sweet. The food was not what I ordered, nor was the food my friend ordered.
Moon over Green Hills – August Moon is a Green Hills staple when it comes to Chinese food. Seemingly does a good carryout business and is never very crowded. Has a bar but not really conducive to drinking. Parking is easy out front. Ask for something away from the window unless you enjoy people watching you eat from the sidewalk out front.
