This was the worst experience I have ever had.I waited approximately seven hours before being taken to a room. The staff’s attitude was extremely rude and lacked any sense of compassion or professionalism. I was stuck multiple times trying to have blood drawn in the lobby and even after I was finally taken back, the care continued to be extremely poor.The cleanliness of this facility was especially disturbing. After two visits earlier today for pain shooting down my arm, I ended up at the new Atrium Health emergency department near Concord Mills. I have to say, I was extremely pleased with the entire experience. From the front desk staff and nurses to radiology and the doctor, everyone was professional, compassionate, and genuinely seemed to care about helping me in the best way possible. Incredible experience. I’m with a patient who has a potential gall bladder issue. Their pain is been pretty unremitting for 36 hours. They have all the symptoms, except for fever, which is not uncommon. They were moved to the waiting room in excruciating pain, sweat pouring from their face. I walked up to the visitor check-in for the patient to ask for a patient advocate. I think this image of a nurse getting her blood drawn by another nurse while on the clock with patients waiting communicates my experience better than the written word can. Shameka the nurse is wholly incompetent at her job and has no bedside manner to speak of. If you are in pain or having an emergency you might as well wait it out at home because they will leave you in the lobby for hours with no follow-up, just leave you there to suffer it is ridiculous
