I wanted to mention that I was at the memory care unit in Mount Pleasant, SC on Saturday, September 20, 2014. While I was there visiting my father, Clayton, I experienced a horrific seizure. Because of the quick work of the attendants, I was rushed to MUSC hospital where I completely recovered. Thank you to the Somerby staff for helping me and for taking good care of my father. .A bit over 4 years ago we realized that mom and dad needed to be closer to either my sister in Fort Lauderdale or here in SC. They lived in Springhill Florida which was 7 1/2 hours from me and 6 1/2 hours from my sister...way to far in case of emergencies or if they need help. Somerby is a wonderful place to live and my mother is so happy to be a part of this fabulous community. We explored other retirement communities and when we found Somerby, she knew that this was the place that she wanted to be a part of. At first, she was a bit reluctant to move into any community. If you are living at home by yourself and have lost your spouse, Somerby is the place for you. I’ve been here 1 year and I’ve loved every day of it. The staff is just like “home folks”. You would LOVE every one of them. When you go to the Dining Room, you feel like you are on a cruise ship. The food is good, the friendship is great! The staff checks on your safety all the time. “I like living here very, very much. My favorite thing here is the staff and their consideration for residents. It's an ongoing memory because of their kindness and consideration. somerby – I moved my parents to Somerby this summer. What a find. It is a friendly and safe place for those who need a hand every know and then. The staff is excellent and go out of their way to make sure that every need of the residents are met. I highly recommend the facility.
Very Friendly – This retirement community seemed to have a close-knit family feel. Singing together around the grand piano in the common room (when you first enter), friendly staff, and assisted living in a small private area with a nurse, within a few feet of any door. All these factors, together put this at the top of any potential list! The nurse seemed to only have 8 people to care for, which is a very nice ratio!
Somerby – I like the people and the apartment. I also like to get into the activities, Happy Hour, and to read the books in the library. My favorite thing to do here is to exercise and play bingo. I loved Oktoberfest too.
Our grandmother said it's like staying at a luxury hotel! – This is a wonderful place that our grandmother raves about constantly! The staff truly went out if their way to make her feel welcome, and it didn't stop there. She always tells us how friendly and helpful everyone is to her, and how she has met some wonderful residents that she now calls friends.
