Dr. Athanasios Smyrlis, has got to be the most thorough, patient, kind and professional Cardiologist in NY, I absolutely adore him. Mt. Sinai is blessed to have him on their staff. I have had many doctors in the past, Dr. Smyrlis is the only doc I have really liked, not only because he's outstanding in his field of expertise, he genuinely enjoys his work, he's always happy and smiling. I saw my GP in early November 2024 and weighed in at 246lbs. I was diagnosed with Hashimotos and put on thyroid meds. A month later I saw Dr Smyrlis as a precaution and weighed in at 240lbs. Dr Smyrlis said u really needed to lose weight. An easy thing to say but what made Dr Smyrlis a hero to me, was that he layed out a plan for me to follow. Dr. Smyrlis is a kind, caring and compassionate physician. Not only am I grateful to him for providing me with life saving care but he is also a dedicated doctor who listens to his patients and is always ready with helpful advice. He is always quick to respond if I need to contact him.
Dr. Smyrlis is truly one of a kind. He doesn’t just treat symptoms -he takes the time to understand the whole person. Every visit feels personal and unrushed, and it is clear he genuinely cares about his patients’ well being. A rare and amazing doctor! I’m so grateful I found him!
I can’t say enough kind words to about Dr. Smyrlis, because of him my daughter still has a father and I still have a husband. I first spoke with him on the phone moments after he saved him and he put my mind at ease that the worst part was past us. For the next two days he was there checking on him. The day after we left, he checked up again and I had questions and concerns and he answered them with no issues. I would recommend him a thousand times over. Thank you we are blessed we found you.
