I myself was not a resident at the Brainerd House but my daughter was admitted here. She verbally asked for more structure and was consistently denied growth while in the program. She was also told they don't provide actual therapy but yet they bill for therapy and chemical dependency groups that last a total of 10 whole minutes. Instead of actually trying to fix or change anything, my daughter was discharged from the program due to voicing her concerns about the program repeatedly. I was not a resident at Brainerd House, but my son, Evan Reece, was admitted there Monday afternoon, August 25, 2025. Within a day he was able to find there the accessories needed to cut his wrists before hanging himself on a tree on the premisis, a tree readily visible. By the time paramedics were called, he was unresponsive and unable to be revived. This was supposed to be a safe, nurturing facility. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THE BEST MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT CENTER IN DULUTH, MN. THEN YOU WILL FIND IT HERE AT BRAINERD HOUSE! LAID BACK, BUT ALSO A PLACE TO FIND PEOPLE WHO SINCERELY CARE ABOUT YOUR SUCCESS. A SURE REPRIEVE WHEREAS ALL YOUR NEEDS WILL BE MET, AND YOU WILL HAVE THE TIME FOR A DEEPER DIVE INTO YOURSELF. STAFF WILL ASSIST YOU IN GAINING INSIGHT AND UNDERSTANDING, PARTICULARLY IN REGARDS TO YOUR MENTAL HEALTH.
DO NOT WORK HERE. The woman who runs the facility is not great, a liar, and doesn’t actually care for the clients in the facility. She takes advantage of staff and overworks them as well as make them do HER job. Truly sad. If you have a bad experience please report them. Reports can be made to DHS :)
If you're looking for support don't go here because the staff won't talk to you about anything that requires their time. Drugs everywhere and staff are lazy and incompetent. I had to leave to get help. Don't waste your time here.
