Absolutely terrible experience when calling for a loved one who was in crisis. I am a mental health professional and understand how this should work. I also understand what a mental health crisis looks like. The woman who answered the phone was extremely rude, wouldn’t let me finish a sentence, and clearly doesn’t understand how to handle a mental health crisis. I wouldn’t waste your time in a situation like this calling them.
Our family is in crisis and I called yesterday for help. I explained what was going on and the woman was extremely rude to me. She had to call me back twice because she forgot to ask me necessary information. She treated me like I was an idiot when I asked her a basic question. I was told I would receive a call back from someone with the mobile unit and I never did. Absolutely HORRIBLE way to treat parents when they are afraid for their child and looking for help. 😡

I was scared. I got nervous and started singing in the assessment room while no one was there. So they put me in handcuffs with a waistchain and ankle cuffs then put me in a police car with bars.

They left. She was even more determined to harm herself. She banged her head on a vacuum cleaner, ran out the door again to run out on Dorchester road. I called them again. They came. She expressed she wanted to go to MUSC. They said she didn't meet the criteria. I was going to take her, but she changed her mind. Writing a review f... read more
