Very knowledgeable. He listens and cares about you as an individual. Answers all questions in away you understand. Explains everything so you know what is going on and you do not leave scratching your head. One of the best dr I have ever been too.
Dr. Askew took ample time to carefully review my medical history and test results. Then he explained in layman's terms what I was facing. He conveyed the seriousness of my situation without being alarmist. He outlined a treatment plan that left me feeling like I still had some control--and responsibility for--my own destiny. I would not hesitate to recommend this physician to any family member or friend.
I was very sick and very frightened when I first met Dr Askew at Mary Washington Hospital where I had been admitted for a variety of health issues. The primary concern was a growth on my tricuspid heart valve which was surgically repaired. Dr. Askew's warmth and genuine concern for my well being as well as his intelligence and professional manner soon calmed my fears and inspired my great confidence in the decisions he made for treatment. He and his team did a great job. Saved my life.
I have to tell you that Dr Askew really seems concerned about the patient. He takes time to listen and cares. You do not find those qualities this day and age. If only I could have him train my primary care physician I would be really happy!
Dr. Askew was very professional, he truly listened to my concerns and all the information I thought was relevant to my situation. He was not condescending and didn't speak in Medicalese. He asked questions to get a fully comprehensive picture of my situation. I am so relieved to find someone with the knowledge, ability, and desire to help me.
I have had 4 cardiologists in the last 6 years. Dr. Askew is the first one to listen to me and explain what is going on. I trust him completely. He is thorough and pro-active.
My mother-in-law has been a patient of Dr. Askew's for the past year. He recommended 2 stents to relieve significant blockages in her heart. He coordinated with her other specialists (nephrologist (stage 4 kidney disease), oncologist and her general practitioner to ensure the procedure was done with minimal disruption to her other issues. Two weeks after the procedure her labs are great and she feels a renewed energy. His knowledge and compassion are fantastic. Excellent doctor!
