These people are scam artisit with minimal knowledge. Our state does not have probate for smaller estates. They never bothered to check but plow ahead as if they know what they are doing. The manager I spoke tried to tell me CITI Bank whom they represent does not woe me an itemized statement —DUH! They are full of erroneous information which they stand behind. I received a notice of my late mother’s apparent unpaid debt. I asked them how they received my address, and was told it was my mother’s last known address but I gladly made them aware she never lived with me at the address where I received the letter. Just be honest and up front with people that you’re using “public record” to harass people’s families. Extremely kind. They have a business to run, people may not like what they do, it’s a business. They are compassionate and very kind. If monies are owed, and monies are available from the estate, they should be paid to the creditors, who TRUSTED the customer. It’s really quite simple.
