Doctor Arash Salemi, cardiac surgeon along with co-ordinating cardiologist, Dr. Torre performed a TAVR operation on me on May 10, 2021. The operation was a success. There were many tests and evaluations done by these doctors to see whether my arteries and heart could accommodate this operation with minimal risk. I had aortic valve replacement 1 year ago, couldn't walk to the store for a cup of coffee without feeling shortness of breath. A week after the surgery I had my dog out for a long walk (about 1 1/2 miles). The surgery was very fast and I was home in 2 days. If you need this type of surgery, don't hesitate, you have found the right doctor and hospital.
We were wildly impressed. Dr. Salemi saw me on the spur of the moment because of a foul up with the original appointment. He was calm, authoritative, extremely clear in his explanations, reassuring, funny and everything else one would want a surgeon to be in a consult.
Heart surgery used to require a long recovery. I was in the hospital for only one night and except for being tired and slightly achy i was fine and back to normal in short order. Thank you dr Salemi and the valve team. This was a miracle procedure. I feel totally normal.
