Very disappointing first experience with AppSumo. I purchased a Yapper Tier 4 lifetime deal through AppSumo for USD 429. The deal was advertised with recurring monthly credits, which were a key reason for my purchase. After the purchase, the core value of the deal was materially changed: the recurring monthly credits were replaced with a much less valuable structure. appsumo needs to do better. over the last few years many deals i got have various issues. from Pickaxe that just banned our account for no good reason to Slick.is who just shadow banned and refuse to communicate or support their users. appsumo is not a trustworthy or reliable platform any longer.
We use TidyCal in production and are generally happy with it, but when it comes to a very simple yet highly valuable feature, the platform falls short. The ability to use dynamic placeholders (e.g., name or UUID) in meeting URLs is completely missing — even though it would provide huge benefits, especially for self-hosted solutions like Jitsi. AppSumo makes it possible to get great software at a steep discount. I have been a major fan of this website and marketplace since spring 2022, spending quite a bit of money for access to digital marketing and creation tools. My encounters with customer service have been always positive and almost always satisfying. Recently, AppSumo refunded me for a Chromium-based browser purchase after the browser closed shop six months after buying. I was grateful for the refund. EDIT (January 2026): Too many times, I've lost money needlessly because of AppSumo's customer-unfriendly policy regarding coupons. I've lost money because I applied coupons for purchases that are later refunded. AppSumo needs to get its act together and figure this out. Why the heck should I lose $160(!) that was credited to me after a company on AppSumo went against its word all because I tried another offer that didn't work out.
