Applebee's gets a bad rap, but I worked at an Applebee's in Raleigh, NC as a second, PT job to supplement my FT job. I lost money working for Applebee's because the clientele is, for the most part, very low-class and tip either nothing or 5%. And yes, a large % of the patrons are very low-class. I quit after 2 months because when you make $2.13 an hour and on a typical shift, a ghetto party of 12 stays 4 hours and tips you .75 cents on $439.00 bill, well, it's time to move on. This restaurant is Applebees in the hood. The people are hard working good folks who are there trying to make a living. Many of the people who come into this restaurant come in after 10pm so they can get cheap drinks and 1/2 price appetizers. Many of these folks are the welfare entitled and they come in acting like they were raised in a barn. Understaffed – They do not have enough wait staff to keep things moving. Our dinner took entirely too long. There were tons of empty tables but we could not be seated because they only had 4 waitors in the entire place. Then, it took way to long for the food to come out. They advertise a special 3-course menu for $9.99 but there are NO choices. There is only ONE that is actually $9.99.
