A serious life threatening problem resulting from the colonoscopy he performed. In addition, staff at his office never answered the phone. Left a message. Sometimes did not receive a call back at all.
Ive dealtbwith IBS-C since I was a teen. Im 50 yrs old and Dr. Atia is the first Dr. To actually listen to my issues and work with me until we found what combination of medications would alleviate my issues. He was extremely patient and promised he would work with me until we found what helped. He did just that. He was not patronizing or criticizing and he didnt have the arrogant complex a lot of Dr's have had and just throw a drug at me and leave you in the wind or dismiss my symptoms and thoughts on the matter. I made an appointment as a new patient with Dr. Atia's office. A few days later they called me to take a different time and day. Okay, no problem. Then the day before the appointment I got a call from his office to ask me to change my time again. Okay, fine. On the day of the appointment I come in, do all the paperwork and then they stick me in a room for over an hour! Nobody came in to update me why it's was taking so long. I absolutely cannot believe how terrible this office is at getting back to me when I need them most. I left over 5 messages throughout the week, including with the nurse, during business hours because the medication I was prescribed wasn’t working for my IBS, and I was going through hell with symptoms. The Dr never called me back, or anything. I have been a patient of Dr. Atia's for several years now. The care that he has provided to me has been excellent. Plus his office staff is the very best that I have ever experienced in all my years since receiving health care. My medical issues began for me while I was in my 20s. I am now in my 70s. I have been to many doctors (primarily for intestinal issues) during my adult years. I honestly feel the medical staff of the Barrington office is the very best for me!
Still Antwan Atia is the single nicest and most personable doctor I’ve ever had. I had been having terrible heartburn and other GI symptoms for years. No other doctor was able to figure it out. After asking around, I found Dr Atia. He was relentless. He sent me for all the right tests. I wanted to give up but he never did. Finally he figured it out, and I’m on the right medicine for the rest of my life, but I’m so very gr.eatful to him. I feel much better.
Excellent doctor and staff. Totally on top of their game. Caring, professional, very knowledgeable and organized. Was reffered by a friend that suffered with Crohns for years. With Dr.Atia's care he is enjoying life and is in the best shape ever!
