A man-made lake provides refuge to wildlife and dozens of tame ducks, providing entertainment for the diners at this long-established San Diego seafood restaurant called the Anthony's Fish Grotto. It also makes the hour-long dinnertime wait much more pleasant for kids and adults alike. Seafood is the best bet here and the daily specials offer great value and delicious preparation. The Clam Chowder, from Anthony's matriarch Mamma Ghio, is renowned, a rich red broth liberally studded with tender clams.

Fantastic!!! This was our first time dining at Anthony’s. Was the best service ever experienced at a restaurant. The food was fantastic!!! Finest dining experience!!!
Beautiful grounds! Yummy food! Great Brussels sprouts! Delightful service. The ambiance was wonderful! Thank you!
outside patio wonderful during happy hour
We always set in the outside patio, it’s so beautiful and relaxing. Our food is always great and we have only experienced good service, we look forward to our next visit
Ambiance outside patio is beautiful and they have extended the dinning along the water as well. Our server was very was wonderful, efficient and great personality. I have had dinner there before a few times and not displeased but last night the food (I had a fish taco & a dinner salad) were truly horrible. My moms pasta primavera was bland & it was such a disappointment. I would definitely come back again as maybe it was just an off night in the kitchen.
Started going to Anthony’s by the water in the 60’s , the food is still great. Friendly waitress and good prices. Love the grotto feel in the La Mesa location.
What can I say? You can't bet perfection. Anthony's has been here for over 71 years. I give it 10 Stars!
Our nonprofit organization had our board dinner at Anthony’s. The service was amazing. The food was great, and they accommodated us in such a way that the members of our board were able to visit and have a great evening of fellowship. We will definitely be back.
Best hand battered shrimp and fish ever! I don’t like Cole Slaw, but theirs is amazing as well as the house dressing. Great location on a private lake. Interesting decor and attentive service. Casual elegance at its finest. Just great!
