Dr. Ackerman was fantastic. He spent so much time with me and was so thorough. He brought up things that other doctors should have but didn't. He was smart and funny and I was very happy to have found him in the big pool of neurologists in Gainesville. For me, the office ran swiftly and efficiently and the staff was great. Definitely five stars for Dr. Ackerman.
I confirmed my appointment, did an early check on Friday. Sunday I woke up with a fever, chills, aching all over. I called Monday morning to cancel because I was still very ill. I was told I would be a “cancellation, no show” or have a phone appointment with him, which I feel to sick to do. I have never cancelled an appointment with him or any SIMED Dr but I won’t be back to see him or any other SIMED Dr. Again!
I had a new patient appointment scheduled with Dr. Ackerman, who was recommended by my current neurologist, who is moving. I called the day prior at 3:45 to reschedule my 10:15 appointment because it was becoming apparent that I was getting worse and showing symptoms of strep throat. He was very thorough and explained things clearly. He ordered tests that I thought should be ordered and even referred me to another specialist to be safe. His staff is super nice and everyone, including him is accommodating and very kind. I could tell he cared about getting me a diagnosis.
Dr. Ackerman has a very poor bedside manner and only seems interested in getting you into his sleep clinic. Doesn't listen. Will cut you off and make you feel stupid. He does have a good staff though.
