Dr Chawla is an amazing doctor and I was lucky to be his patient. However his office staff is very poor at best. Awful communication and no follow up. After a procedure I never received a summary or directions for a Rx. I left VMs with no return call. Once I finally spoke with Dr Chawla I was charged $40. I reached out to say I was unjustly charged, it went on deaf ears. I left another VM requesting my medical records. Still no callback.
I have been seeing him for almost about a year. I was told I would get two weeks worth of a sample medication that was way too expensive to afford but failed to supply me with the full treatment, just shy of two days worth of the treatment. When asked why I was only given a 12 day sample vs 14 days, the nurses ignored my question. If only he had given me the full supply like his nurse had stated before I went to pick it up. I’m not sure how he has a 2 star rating. He was awesome. My first visit with him he was forward & fast paced but I kind of liked that. He knew exactly how to answer my questions & had a good plan. He was also hilarious at my endoscopy & made me feel comfortable. Currently waiting to hear from him on my results, it’s been about a week. However, like I said, I didn’t have any issues with him. Had a procedure almost 2 weeks ago. Still no results after calling over 5x. It wasn’t hard to take my money but apparently hard to follow up.
When a doctor’s response is, I don’t care it doesn’t bother me any, you know that your health is not in his best interest. As a GI doctor, he has never listened to my digestive system, the nurse listens for 3 seconds when taking my BP, not sure how an accurate reading can come from that. Be an advocate for your own health and find doctors that truly care.
