October 2020 my dog got his leg brace. He wasn't using his leg at all before the brace. The second I put it on he got excited and started running around. He wore the brace everyday for a little under 2 years. We did a lot of short walks to start and worked our way up to normal life. It's February of 2025, he 9 years old running around wild as can be without ever needing leg surgery. He never needs the brace anymore and does not ever limp. We walk 3-5 miles every single day.
Our 10 year old dog tore her ACL and we opted not to do surgery but did get a custom brace to help stabilize her leg and this has definitely helped. She is just at the 8 week mark and is doing a lot better but we still put the brace on when we take her for a walk.
I went in for a custom fitting with my bully breed who has a partial cruciate tear. The staff were wonderful. The place is very comfortable for dogs. They were also flexible with my work schedule. Above all, they were honest. They told me that with the geometry of her leg the brace likely wouldn't stay up. They could have made a bunch of money on me but chose to be forthright with me.
The entire process with Animal Ortho Care has been the best! We had already done the TPLO surgery for our lab six years ago and now that she over nine it was hard to justify the new price tag of $5k for the surgery. After she tore her other ACL we kept her crated while I searched and searched for options and came across this brace. The reviews seemed too good to be true.
