Reply to Mary's Comment of 2010 I can't believe this Mary person thinks that I would be upset solely over an unreturned phone call. That assumption is just ridiculous. Again, read the facts about this on the South Carolina Department of Labor Licensing & Regulation website. I'm not the only one with complaints against this practice. My issue is with the lack of care, respect and dignity given to my animal because of the irresponsible individual to whom I entrusted his care.
Great Service Although some services are a little pricey it's all worth the great service and care that you receive from the doctors and staff. I absolutely love Animal Medical!

Awesome Veterinary Care I can't believe that this Todd fellow would malign Dr. Hentges character over a phone call not received. It had nothing to do with diagnosis or care for the pet but just a perception. That's just irresponsible. Dr. Hentges is a great vet. He's smart and extremely experienced. He also has a terrific veterinary assistant named Crystal. She is excellent and does not forget to follow up. She's better than gold.
Please look past the so called fat...it could be kidney failure!!!! My dog (Pembroke Welsh Corgi) was a patient of this clinic for at least 10 years. I brought him in for all his shots & anything else necessary reguluarly. Through the years many tests were run on him for different ailments or for whatever reason at the time. The one thing they harped on was he being overweight. They had me buying a brand of diet dog food from them for awhile, but it didn't help so I discontinued it. Rude Staff The front desk staff is rude and unhelpful which leaves a bad taste right off the bat when you walk in. The services seem pricey. We stayed with them 3 years before we decided enough was enough and switched to another vet.
Dr. Thomas Hentges - Best Vet in Charleston I would not take my animals anywhere else except to Dr. Thomas Hentges. He is the main vet at Animal Medical West. He is not available every day but he is a phenomenal doctor and he has an excellent staff helping him. I don't know about the other vets in the practice. All I know is Dr. Hentges saved my dog's life when other vets in Charleston did not have a clue as to what was wrong with her. Also, he does not do unnecessary tests or procedures running up your bill.
