One of the city's most popular barbecue joints actually began as a beer hall in 1958. The original owner, Angelo George, added the meat as a sideline to encourage customers to drink more. Now the former beer hall has been named one of the best places for barbeque by the Zagat Weekly and Texas Monthly. The walls are graced with typically Texan taxidermy (moose, buffalo and deer). Best BBQ ever !!!!!!
Their brisket was more like pot roast instead of bbq. Sausage was good, but there beans are ranch style beans out of the can. A decent pot of beans is easy and cheap to make, I don't know why some bbq joints would use canned beans.
My favorite ribs ever since the early' 70's
I've only been to Angelia once. Stopped in for a couple of beers. Felt like I was invisible. The beer was very cold a plus but service sucked. When my beer gets close to being empty I think the bartender should ask if I need another one. And absolutely none of them ever made eye contact. Are they afraid a customer might want to speak to them. Or order a freezing beer. I honestly can't stand BBQ just wanted a beef which I got. Service rating minus 5
I will not set foot in Angelo's again. Service sucked and food was cold. Not a hospitable place.
