From the Portland Press Herald July 18,2011"The Angelone family is credited with bringing the modern pizzeria to Maine. Jack Angelone opened his first restaurant on Veranda Street in Portland in 1947, where he entertained crowds by playing the piano. Angelone was joined in the venture by his brother Joe and his wife Patricia. Pizza was not then a staple in the American diet. Angelonie's pizza is and has always been the best pizza in the state im a former truck driver and have traveled to many places and tried many pizza's Angelonie's IS THE BEST... make sure you go get your pizza before this location closes the end of July. I know i will miss their pizza when they close, but until then i intend to get a few more before that happens.. Best of luck Laura and enjoy your retirement...
