If you see this doctor, be assertive. Insist on testing for a UTI if you have symptoms of UTI, such as dark smelly urine or frequency of urination.. You can be tested before a catheter is inserted, or when a new catheter is inserted. If you get a catheter, insist they teach you how to clean it with Castile soap wipes in packets and sterile lubricant in packets.
