I lived with Andco for 3 years at an apartment on Lincoln in North Center. Over the course of the 3 years service declined dramatically. The common areas of the building were disgusting and poorly cared for, if at all. At the end of my stay, I noticed multiple cockroaches in the basement. When I contacted maintenance, their solution was to send an engineer over with a spray bottle to "treat" the hallways. Andco Management isn't the WORST property management company in the city, but they're certainly not the best. I lived in the 734 Aldine Ave apartment block for 3 years and the unit itself was nice-ish. They very clearly didn't clean the unit before I moved in (walls were very scuffed, floor was dirty, bathroom needed scrubbing). Upon reporting it, they did send someone out to half-heartedly clean the unit. The maintenance is very responsive (most requests were handled in 24 hours) and friendly. I am reading the negative reviews and to me, a lot of them sound like isolated issues or "crybaby" people that want to hassle a good company for isolated incidents. I've lived in the city for 15 years, rented apartments from Cagan, Peak (twice), The Enterprise Companies, Haderlein & Son, Lakeview Associates, and Andco. I would say AndCo was easily the best. They will charge you the most insane move out fees regardless of the condition you leave your apartment. They charged me $25 per lightbulb, $400 for a cleaning fee on a spotless apartment, and another $200 for a couch that we tried to throw out (charged me for two pieces of furniture because it was a sectional). I would never recommend this company to anyone looking to rent in the Chicago area. Read their insane fees before signing, god forbid you do.
