When we arrived in anchorage the weather was terrible, but since my family were only in Alaska for a week we decided to try a tour anyway. Due to the weather it seemed unlikely to see the sunset, but Russ was so knowledgeable about the area he managed to provide us with a great tour anyway. He found a Dahl sheep eagles and falcon to view as well as taking us to the native health Center to see a truly remarkable collection of native art and taste some alaskan berries fresh off the Bush. Excellent trip in Anchorage! Our tour guide, Russ, is a very kind, experienced, and humorous man! We enjoy the spring break because of him!
We thoroughly enjoyed our sunset tour with Russ in June. We saw heaps of things we wouldn't have seen otherwise. Our tour was well worth the money. Russ also went the extra mile the next day when we realised that we didn't have our transfer to Whittier for our cruise sorted. He got us train tickets and made sure we were all sorted. He was such a nice guy, his local knowledge is invaluable, we had a great insight to Anchorage and it's history.
NO, NO, NO Russ told us we would be picked up at 6AM because he needed to be finished by 3PM for his personal matters. He showed up at 6:30AM. We missed our dog sled tour so we had to split the group and go to two different companies, plus we had to wait an extra 2 hours. He lied to the the dog sled company and told them we ran into traffic. A lady on the group was upset because they had other plans later in the day. I browsed through google reviews and called up a few tour groups. Russ responded with a solid plan, very knowledgeable, and honest. Russ was very good at making my parents feel comfortable (because one of them was getting afraid of how cold it’s going to be at the glaciers, and another one was afraid of falling down and breaking any bones.) After seeing the glaciers, they were both thoroughly impressed and satisfied. We learned a lot from Russ! I’d recommend him to anyone who’s visiting Anchorage and nearby areas! :)
