Amy's Gross Cream – I have been to many locations in Austin and this is by FAR the worst one. The employees are so rude and careless about "customer service" they are more into their piercings and tattoos than getting you what you asked for the FIRST time around. All the fancy scooping, flipping and pounding is a useless "talent" to show off to me. The ice cream is gross and it lacks flavor. If you were to tell me it starts out as powder in an envelope and you just add water and shake I'd believe you. Amy's is far, far over-... read more
Best Ice Cream in Houston – Hands down, this is the best ice cream in Houston. Too bad there is only one location, but a lot of restaurants serve their ice cream with dessert (Barnaby's Cafe, Mission Burrito, Star Pizza, etc). Mexican Vanilla is an all-time favorite, but it is always fun to try the other flavors. MY favorite funky flavor - Avocado!
yummy! – What a great icecream place. We went in on a Friday evening and must have been early as there was hardly anyone around. The guys working behind the counter were very friendly and seemed to very much enjoy their job. We got a pint to go and headed home. Hours later, we pulled the coffee/PB Cup icecream out and it was still very soft, which was a complete suprise. The coffee icecream was very strong and oh so wonderful! We'll def. go back, but may not stay as the music being played was not my cup of tea, but that is n... read more
Absolutely the best ice cream! – There ice cream is the best. My favorite is the Irish cream with fresh strawberries. YUM! It also fun to watch them put your order together.
GREAT LOCATION and Ice Cream – I love Amy's Ice Cream and although this location is closer to my house, I aways go to the one on Burnet. For some reason, this location accepts checks and cash---but not DEBIT/CREDIT cards. Plus, they aren't open on Sundays!
Better than the others. – Amy's Ice Cream is impressively good. I'd give them 5 stars, but I can count on one hand the number of times I've gone there and waited less than 15 minutes in line. Even on slower nights, the wait is ridiculous. They have 2 people on the line, and usually they're working the register, too, which takes even more time. The treats are unbeatable, but the staffing is poorly thought out. I do, however, wish they'd have my favourite flavour more often. The hibiscus flower is incredible, and the Guinness ... read more
Family fun and great ice cream – I could not wait to go and try Amy's ice cream, it was well worth the wait. The ice cream guys were awesome and put on a great show. It is a fun, eccentric enviroment. It has a 1920's photobooth that was so much fun. If you are around here it is a MUST!!!!
Best Icecream EVER! – I was introduced to the ORIGINIAL Amy's during college and have gone to the Memorial location several times ... this location falls between the two. It still have the creativity and flair of the original but without the intangibles of the Austin location. But the ice cream is still on point & that's the most important part! Amy's has seasonal flavors to try & most taste like the name. My all time favorie is Mexican Vanilla w/ peanut M&Ms. Try it & you'll be a believer.
Youngsters and the young at heart flock to this campy parlor for great ice cream and good times. – The Scene Although the carnival atmosphere of the Shepherd Plaza club scene has faded, it's hard to overlook the two humongous Holsteins standing atop this place, offering a giant cup of coffee to passersby. That rather astonishing sign, garnished with purple neon, keeps perfectly with the kind of campy "Pee-wee's Playhouse" decor and ambience you'll find inside this Houston version of the longtime Austin ice-cream emporium.
