When I was 18, I was diagnosed with a 25 x 19 x 14cm ovarian cyst, and was urgently referred to Dr. Stenson for surgery. She said that the possibility of cancer was so rare we wouldn't even consider it (though she did admit that it was possible). After a traumatizing appointment with her, I decided to see another doctor. I told this doctor what her plan had been (laparoscopic surgery) and he said that, if the cyst was cancerous, Dr. Stenson's surgery plan would have spread cancer throughout my abdomen. I was struggling with cramping throughout the month that was relieved by ibuprofen, but the ibuprofen was upsetting my stomach due to prolonged use. This Dr. told me it was not possible to experience uterine cramping when not actively bleeding, and therefore my cramps were psychosomatic and I needed to learn breathing exercises to teach my brain that the pain was only imagined.
