I gave a pint of blood at the American Red Cross Blood Drive at the Mariners Museum in Newport News yesterday after hearing about the shortage of blood donations on a local TV show. The experience was pleasant and the nurses were friendly & professional and made me feel comfortable. I'm 80 yrs. old and felt great after giving a pint. I hope to keep giving as long as I'm in good health. Patricia was awesome. Hope the blood drive was a great success.
I donated blood in 2019 - 2021. I was there every 56-60 days. Recently my PCP asked me to wait 6 months for my next donation. I answered the phone from a Red Cross call and was in the process of explaining to the caller what my doctor had requested. In mid sentence he RUDLY hung up on me. There’s always a BAD APPLE IN the applesauce and he was rotten to the core. Good luck RED CROSS - never again will I donate.
The staff here was very professional and accommodating. I was looking to donate blood in the area. Signed up here and I was so glad I did. The coordinator /receptionist Heidi was exceptional in her customer service handling this handicapped senior. She reminded me that there is still plenty of good in this crazy world we live in.
