I was unable to donate platelets today which is completely fine, but the way a staff member reacted was very rude. I was telling the group I was with that I was going to the car because I was not able to donate. While I was telling my friends about the situation, I heard the same staff member taking to other staff members that it was not her fault and that she cannot control my pulse. Since moving to Omaha Nebraska I have continued to donate whole blood and platelets through this location. Their regular staff and facilities are quite wonderful. Over the past couple of years I have been dissatisfied with their new staff. Many times I have been given a fresh phlebotomist who continues to use my arm as their pin cushion. It is understood that this is a teaching facility, however, many times I have to leave without giving a full donation because of their failure to gain access or do it comfortably. This facility is nice -- open and plenty of windows for outside light. It's clean and seems well-run. I appreciate the new equipment they have in the check-in room; there is no finger stick to assess iron level now (plastic electronic device was placed around my thumb) and the blood pressure cuff is now automatic too. There is a good selection of snacks after your donation is completed. Penny was my phlebotomist today and she did a great job!
