1917 First Athens Red Cross. A small group of volunteers, led by Mrs. George D. Thomas, applied for a charter to form the Athens Chapter. They worked to provide hospital supplies to be used in Europe during World War I. Mr. John White Morton, Mrs. George D. Good people. Friendly staff that are appreciative of your donation.
They have been very helpful with the two fires that were on the property that I'm staying on. One claimed a life. The red cross is great , the Oconee county dfacs needs to get it together to help people in times of crisis. They are not helpful at all for fire victims or any other victims for that matter. It's very disheartening to see that one agency is helpful and my friend be referred to another that hasn't been helpful whatsoever. I mean nobody is even telling her that dfacs pays for the cremation when you are indigent. I... read more
