Threw away an expensive charger we left behind even though we called to tell them we would pick it up the next time we were in town. Edit they did call me a few hours later and say they found the charger after I placed this review. Kuddos for them following up and admitting someone took it home and actually returning it. I would normally change my review to 5 stars but posting a response to my BBB complaint saying my complaint was inaccurate and saying it was my fault, not so good again. Having rented for 6 years with 3 different companies - American is by far the worst. Saw a review that talked about how they will keep your entire deposit no matter what and I agree completely. We asked for an inspection a month prior to move out and they refused then proceeded to charge us over $1000 for “light bulb replacement,” “painting the entry hallway,” and removing the child proof locks on the counters in the kitchen (a grand total of maybe 3 hours of work). Extremely incompetent. Rent from them if you want unnecessary stress.
Cons: Will give away your rental without telling or warning you…The company randomly texted us one day in early Dec (lease ends in July) asking for the names of people living here next year, and the next day they put the house on the market without telling /warning us. All they told us was “Please send in the names of people returning next year”. We only found out the house was on the market because a tour got scheduled later that week.
