TLDR, predatory insurer behavior. Set yourself a reminder to check rates every six months. Laurie is nice. Her colleagues I have interacted with are nice, too. They need more transparency in their renewal process. They raised my rates after six months, by 50%, and their renewal email did not include a word about it! My family sold a vehicle in early October 2023. I requested to cancel the policy in December 2023, but I could not locate proof of the sale (without it AmFam could only cancel for 30 days back). About 5 days ago I made the request again. Sarah Mysel responded and helped me identify what I needed to do. Once I provided the document she needed, she canceled my policy effective the date of the sale--AND refunded me my premium of about $750. Sarah was responsive, professional and pleasant.
