The two plus marks go to front desk staff and location convenience. The front desk staff is always pleasant and courteous, as are the maintenance and cleaning staff. Management at the Chester one is below par. Most class instructors are good, a few are fabulous (personable and promte participant success), a few are fair at best. The cycling room is NOT conducive to yoga, so that is not good at all. There are hardly any classes for kids 8-15 years old--just 2 on Sundays (while we're at church). Certain staff are very unprofessional, stalk women, stare them down while they work out, black female workers all they do is laugh loud and cause drama, equipment is sticky, ceiling fans are never turned on high, HATE this location!!!!
I have to agree with the previous review. I for one will not be renewing my membership. I barely go now, because I can not get access to some of the equipment I need for my work outs. And yes Kettlebells are not available for the members to use.
I have managed gyms and have been an avid weight lifter and fitness instructor most of my adult life.The Chester Center is well-equipped and is in a good location with good hours. Terrible customer service. Went to get a trial membership but agent said she could help us and to return another day when a membership specialist was available. We did and couple of days later and the 'membership specialist' simply photocopied my id and said to have a good work-out? Really?? No tour, no rates, nothing? That's what your membership specialists do? Also, both times your customer service agents were very indifferent and not caring who walked through the door. Not a country club but an excellent family fitness center. There is something for every member of the family and grandparents too. A space full of fitness equipment and programs, well kept and used. As a recent new member, I find the staff informative and friendly. My favorite spot is the hot tube and pool. Mechanicsville Family Ftiness.
