I didn't have a good experience with hospice because another program that my grandmom was in for 11 months didn't end well. They were very insensitive and I almost gave up on hospice altogether. Then I spoke with Julie at Amedysis and it made me realize that some nurses still care and there are still descent people in the world. She went above and beyond for us and I wish that we got to work with her longer but by the time we transition over to Hospice my grandmom passed away in a matter of days. My father had been in hospice earlier, so I have a sense of how the process works, when it works properly. Amedysis failed us every step of the way over the 10 days my mother was in hospice. We were unable to get pain medications on time. My mother suffered. We were unable to get accurate advice from doctors on call. My mother suffered. Sent a request for hospice and after speaking to a representative she offered to call my Mother's doctor. Since I had already contacted my Mother's Dr. I specifically told her not to call. She called anyway and then after pressuring them she called me and when I didn't get to my cell phone fast enough called my sister who had already spoken to her and told her I was handling it.
