A new owner bought the Ambassador a few years ago. The apartment used to be a wonderful, affordable senior-only residence; it is now a general public rental. While this action has allowed for younger residents, Texas law only allows single people or couples with no children to live there because only one-bedroom dwellings are available. While the exterior of the apartment is looking VERY dated, the new owner has put priority in maintaining the interiors. He has put a new roof on the buildings, and some apartments have receiv... read more

The apartments have changed owners. I am afraid I must change my rating. A Californian bought the residence and downgraded the property from an all-senior residence to a general-residential property. He eliminated the door-to-door trash removal service, filled in the swimming pool with dirt, and decorated it with ugly rocks, boulders and salt grass. This action was because he no longer wanted to pay for the pool's upkeep and insurance. The deck chairs around the "former pool" were stolen and never replaced, which destroyed t... read more

This is special place to live! Affordable. It is very LGBT friendly. There are mostly people over 50 living here, as it was formerly a senior-only apartment complex. However, younger residents have tended to be professionals with no children. The service is quick; it is well-managed. The courtyard is lovely! There is a nice pool where neighbors meet nightly, at dusk, to have good conversation. The only drawbacks are some of the appliances are very outdated and there are palmetto bugs in the neighborhood.
