As a physician I think it would be helpful in this doctor's early career inspite of all of the insame demands on her of our "Sick Care" system that she not lose sight of the patient in the room and not treat the computer more than the patient. Look at the patient! Touch/exam the patient! None of which she did on my first time visit. Studies (and my own experience) shows that 7 minutes sitting down with a patient is perceived by the patient as 15 minutes with them. I was referred to Dr. VanDlac's office by my oncologist for evaluation and consultation on a very abnormal urinalysis that had blood, protein, glucose, white blood cells and renal epithelial cells in it. I got a call from her office staff saying they wouldn't accept the referral because the diagnosis given was Metastatic Breast Cancer and that had "nothing to do with renal issues."
