My experience with Altoona Housing Authority has been very frustrating. After being in the program, they waited almost a full year before making a final decision on my case saying I committed fraud, which left me and my family in limbo. By the time they acted, it resulted in me losing my Section 8 and being left without stable housing. I understand rules must be followed, but the lack of communication, the long delays, and the way families are left struggling is unacceptable. The lady at the front desk is RUDE. She kept rolling her eyes and was doing anything she could to not do her job. Very unfriendly.. As others stated you should be ashamed of yourselves treating people in the local community this way!
You all should be ASHAMED of yourselves the way you treat people in the local community who are coming to you requesting help, many of which with disabilities! From rolling your eyes, to the talking down and belittling you people are an absolute DISGRACE to the community! Very unhelpful and unfriendly! If you hate doing your job that much then QUIT! People don't deserve to be treated the way the people at this location do! They ALL deserve to be fired!
Lady at the front desk seems pretty racist
This past week, a woman who is homeless, and has lost everything she had, over the past year, due to mental and physical health problems, was given an appointment to get an apartment. She hadn't had a chance, to get the money order, for the down payment...and, the lady at the Housing Authority, wouldn't give her any extra time, to go get it....now she has to wait till Jan. 3rd!!! This poor woman, who is suffering from severe depression already...had her hope of having a place to live, in time for Christmas...just completely ... read more
