When my son first arrived at Alta Loma he was borderline catatonic. It took a lot of work to get him out of psychosis. Given that he was on high doses of psychotic medication all I could do was be patient and allow the professionals at Alta Loma work their brand of magic. Our family had a terrible experience at Alta Loma. The lack of compassion and communication from the staff-especially considering the extremely high cost —was shocking. The head nurse, Katie, and staff member Jerry were unprofessional; Jerry even suggested we were the cause of our son's mental health issues. The psychiatrist reduced our son's medication to the point that he suffered neurological symptoms and had to be taken to the ER. Alta Loma has brought peace and hope back to my family when we were lost! Their compassionate admissions counselor (Austin) was there from my first phone call to listen and guide you, without any pressures or expectations and still present months into the program. We’ve had good ongoing communications from the staff with progress and/or regression. My LO is now a few months into the program and says it’s top notch with kind and professional people!!! Alta Loma is definitely a place of healing and hope for a brighter future!!
