UPDATE: The landlord is working hard to help with the high cost of living by lowering the rent to $595. The landlord is the reason why I won't rate this complex at one star. There is no central heating or refrigerated cooling system. There's just an A/C wall unit in the living room, so be prepared for hot summers and cold winters in the bedroom. It costs me $6 to wash two loads and dry. The complex is rather quiet.
Living at the Alpine Heights was one of the best and most beautiful experiences I have ever had. It was really sad to part ways, living on top of the mountain and having those gorgeous views and having all those hiking trails in my backyard is going to be really hard to let go of, also Tammy Alvarado was such a great landlord, she was always very responsive and understanding which also made my experience living there such an amazing four years thank you again for everything I am so grateful!
Update: The rent went up in 2024. Even though it does seem to be affordable compared to other places it doesn't feel worth it. There is no refrigerated air, central heating or ceiling fan. All the apartment has is a window unit in the living room. So, summers are very hot and can be miserable. The lighting inside is very bad. There are no closets either, which is weird. I can't hang things up on the wall since it's made of cinderblock. The cost of washing and drying went up as well. It costs me $6 to wash two loads and dry. ... read more
I just recently moved back to Alpine to work at Sul Ross. This complex is super close to campus. It's very affordable despite the rent going up in 2024. A lot of students live here. It's a very old and rundown complex. There is no refrigerated air or central heating, just a wall unit in the living room which makes it miserable during the summer and winter.
