I moved to Keene a little over a year ago, and I've made Alpine Bike Works my hometown bike shop. They're a great combination of being a shop for serious enthusiasts, as well as catering to 'everyday' bike needs as well. The have a well-stocked shop and they have excellent, knowledgeable, mechanics. I've been really happy with the considerable amount of services I've received from them over the last year. I highly recommend this shop.
There are many reasons why the world has fewer and fewer bike shops every year. The monadnock region has lost 50% of its shops in the past couple years alone! The bicycle industry has continued on a downward spiral for well over the past 5 years, due to oversupply, dwindling demand and overall bad manufacturer management, resulting in continuous and drastic mark downs and reduced profit margins for the shops. These guys rock. Had an issue with a bike while out riding, called them (on a sunday) and they had me bring it right down, got us fixed up and back on the trails. Everybody was friendly and honest, will 100% be back with my next issue. Thanks guys!! Plus, have a bunch of nice stuff on hand upstairs in the retail store to poke around while they fixed the bike.
