I second the last post... I also wanted to continue healing from childhood sexual abuse, but Dr Vreeland (who I saw when he was practicing in Dallas) did not seem to want to discuss this with me. Embarrassingly, I saw him for 6 years and he told me out of the blue on my last (pre-coronavirus) visit in early 2019 that he wouldn't be seeing me anymore...
He didn’t listen to needs for help about past sexual abuse. He disregarded the subject and didn’t ask questions about it. He didn’t listen when help was really needed in current situations. Talked most of the time in every session and interrupted me often when I was talking.. I believed I was recovering and receiving help for years with meditation but was actually not being helped in the ways that were needed. His diagnosis of me was inaccurate and he was inappropriately unprofessional at times.
Wonderful. He has helped me tremendously with chronic illness and navigating through general anxieties.
Method oriented depth psychology with a strong emphasis on transformation and stabilization of identity through Jungian (dream work) and contemplative (meditation) techniques. If you are up to the task of doing the essential subjective work involved, there is no limit to the value of what can be gained. If you are expecting to be indulged via a weekly pity party in your honor, you may be disappointed with the process.
Very beneficial therapist for PTSD issues
I gave Dr. Vreeland a shot despite seeing some of the reviews. I found him to appear disinterested, and mostly wanted to talk about his own thoughts and ideas. He appears to be a "one size fits all" kind of guy, so listening to my background and issues didn't seem to appeal to him. There are a lot of therapists out there. Find one that you can be sure cares at least a little bit.
Meditation is the only treatment option that this therapist recommends! it is waste of money and time!
