I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. McLawhorn. At just 39 years old, with two little boys depending on me, I was struggling every day with pain that made it hard to simply live my life. 72 YO male. I had both of my hips replaced by Dr. McLawhorn. One in February and one in May 2025. I can’t stress enough how strongly I would recommend him for anyone needing total hip replacement. I am from New Jersey and had both surgeries done at HSS in Stamford, Connecticut. I went from hardly being able to climb my stairs to exercising, walking and biking for over an hour at a time pain-free!! Don’t put it off any longer!!

I’ll start by saying, you should not let any doctor tell you how much pain is ok for you to live with. When it comes to considering knee replacement, it is a personal decision. You have to determine how much of your life is impacted by the pain, especially if alternative treatments aren't working, and whether any potential risks outweigh what you're dealing with. I had a THR (front) with Dr Alexander McLawhorn at HSS and am extremely happy with the outcome. I would highly recommend Dr McLawhorn and HSS. He is an excellent surgeon and the HSS process pre and post operation seems designed for optimal recovery.
