I had a sty developing in my right eye. During my examination, I was asked if I had dry, itchy eyes. I said yes. It was then I learned that we all have glands in our upper and lower eyelids that secrete oil to assist our tears in protecting our corneas. My glands (meibomian) were plugged. Dr. Gunnarson explained the LipiFlow treatment which is the only FDA cleared treatment using thermal pulsating heat to remove blockages in these glands.
